

The Garden begins....
It's midsummer and the garden has been producing for us since the snow melted months ago. Fall planted spinach came peeping through the snow, the Eqyptian onions are ever present and push skyward even as the snow melts as well. So it begins. Now it the time for the harvesting, preparing, eating and storing of all our growing goodies. We were all away for a couple of weeks the end of June and the beginning of July. Winter garden.
I am a maker of things, and one of those things is food. In the season, here in the North land, I plant my vegetables - stretching the season as long as possible. This year I planted turnips in August for late season harvest and was able to enjoy the turnips and greens into the late fall. In early November I harvested the last of the crop, carefully cleaned them and put them into baggies in the refrigerator for my winter salads. They are not the last of the veggies, Daiko
